Tiong Bahru Bakery - Known For Having The Best Croissants In Singapore
Well known for their Buttery and flaky croissants, Tiong Bahru Bakery has been given the reputation by some as serving the Best Croissant in Singapore, Tucked away in the corner of Tangs Shopping Centre, we decided to visit one of their three outlets.
LATTE AND CROISSANT SET ($6.50)
The most basic combination yet also the most popular is a warm cup of fresh coffee and croissant to start off the day. Really delicious light pastry with a flaky crust, fluffy and buttery layers within, that goes incredible with jam and butter.
MOLASSES BUN ($9.00)
The molasses bun was layered with smoked salmon, cream cheese and topped with rocket leaves. I didn't really this as the breading was slightly overwhelming and the overall flavors tasted very herbaceous especially with the addition of coriander seeds in the bun.
The Rolling Dumpling ($4.50)
This Xiao Long Bao inspired flavor consisted of minced pork which was seasoned lightly and coated with a delicious vinegar dressing. Finished off with chives and sesame with pickled ginger. The rich sauce and succulent minced pork's savoriness complimented well with the crispy puff pastry, and the chives gave a nice freshness.
The Jumping Fish ($4.50)
Smoked salmon, siting on a spinach and ricotta cheese spread. Garnish with a piece of dill. An interesting take on using puff pastry from the usual sandwich, but I felt that this combination didn't leave an impact on me.
