AFE Delights Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice - The Reason To Travel To Marsiling

Every neighborhood has its specialty chicken rice stall, and my journey to Marsiling led me to a popular stall that coincidentally, belongs to the sibling's restaurant of my favorite chicken rice stall, Yishun 925 Chicken Rice.

CHICKEN ORGANS ($2.00)
Chicken organs is always a must have on the table. A small plate comes with slices of gizzards and liver which is then garnished with cucumbers and parsley with a douse of salty soy-sauce.

The liver was creamy and smooth with a slight gamey taste that I really enjoy without being too dry.

The gizzards were equally good. Chewy yet it breaks apart so easily. Although it didn't provide much flavor, the textural contrast was really nice.

CRYSTAL CHICKEN FEET ($2.00)
Another side dish is the chicken feet. Deboned and also soaked in the same sauce as the chicken organs, topped with slices of cucumbers and a piece of parsley.

The chicken feet was chewy, slimy and salty from the sauce. It's similar to the chicken gizzards - lacking in flavors but the texture is a definitely an acquired taste.

HALF ROASTED CHICKEN ($12.00)
I didn't know whether to get the steamed or roasted chicken but I went with what I saw on most people's table - The roasted chicken.

A plate of this roasted chicken comes with a side of Acar and garnished with parsley.

Acar also commonly referred to as pickled vegetables, is eaten between bites to freshen up the meal. It taste totally different than the ones soaked in soy-sauce that has a sweet-sour pickled taste.

The portion of the chicken was slightly lesser than expected but still reasonable in size. I realized that the pieces of chicken was mostly boneless and lightly pressed down.

The chicken meat was tender and cooked thoroughly. Nicely flavored from the sauce and the skin has a nice charred taste compared to the slimy smooth steamed chicken skin.

STEAMED CHICKEN RICE ($3.00)
After trying out their roasted chicken, I decided to make a return trip to try out their steamed chicken.

I ordered "Ji Wei", which is actually the thigh meat of the chicken, thus the extra $0.50 from the usual $2.50.

The boneless steamed chicken was juicy and succulent compared to the dryer white meat counterpart. The skin was so soft and slimy, it literally broke apart in my mouth. Delicious.

A simple garlic chili and dark soy sauce to change up the taste. The chili served here has a nice mild spicy kick.

I didn't see any grated ginger provided at the stall.

The soup is another important component to the chicken rice set. Slightly salty chicken soup with a peanut aftertaste and finally garnished with a spring onion that gives the soup a little crunch and earthy flavor.

The chicken rice served here is one of the elites around the area and if you're in the area and not sure what to eat, this is the place to go!
