Ding Ji Teochew Noodle - Bak Chor Mee For Supper Anyone?

Ding Ji Teochew Noodle is one of my favorite places to visit when I'm in need of a good bowl of Bak Chor Mee. Located in a food-court inside 888 plaza, this stall is opened 24 hours, making this a popular supper destination to those living around the area.

MUSHROOM MINCED MEAT NOODLES ($3.50)
For this price, you get a bowl of springy egg noodles with an assortment of ingredients, doused in a black sauce and finally sprinkled with chives. You get specific amounts of ingredients in each bowl that consists of minced meat, tender pork slices, half cooked pig's liver, mushrooms, two chewy savory beef balls and a few semi-crispy pork lards.

The simplicity of this dish is definitely the key factor to making it great. The noodles are cooked perfectly with a nice chewy texture that coats nicely with the generous amount of black sauce which prevents it from being too dry.

The other ingredients are also nicely seasoned with a play of textures of chewy beef balls, soft liver and crisp spring onions. This bowl may lack in finesse but the quality of every component definitely makes this dish simply delicious.

This is so far my favorite bowl of Bak Chor Mee in the North, not only for serving up delicious bak chor mee, but also I know I can get it anytime of the day.
